Workforce
Employment growth is a basic measure of the economy's health. Since 2000, South Florida's employment growth has been very strong, with rates exceeding both the state and nation. It has also exceeded the region's labor force growth, resulting in a consistent decline in unemployment rates. While it is good news that the region is creating jobs and newcomers are here to fill those positions, the quality of the jobs, based on wages, needs improvement, as does the educational attainment of the workforce in order to compete for better quality jobs. |
